What Is Structural Steel and Rebar Estimating?
Structural steel estimating quantifies every steel member on the structural drawings, including beams, columns, braces, girts, joists and deck, and converts them into weight (tons). It then adds connections, plates, bolts, shop fabrication, coatings, delivery and erection costs.
Rebar estimating calculates reinforcing steel for concrete elements by bar size and length. It includes laps, hooks, bends, dowels and accessories, converted to weight for fabrication and placement pricing.

Steel and Rebar Quantities You Can Price with Confidence
Steel is priced by weight, but weight alone doesn’t win bids. Our steel estimators list every member with size, length and weight, count pieces for handling and erection, and apply connection allowances based on the connection type and design. Joists, joist girders and metal deck are measured separately, with bridging and accessories.
Miscellaneous metals, such as stairs, railings, lintels, embeds, bollards and ladders, are often buried in the architectural drawings. We find and list them so they are not left out of the bid.
Our rebar takeoffs follow the structural schedules and typical details for every concrete element. We cover footings, grade beams, slabs, walls, columns, tie beams and elevated decks, with lap lengths per the general notes. Output is organized by element and bar size for fabrication and placing bids.
For industrial buildings we also estimate PEMB packages, anchor bolts and foundations.
