Quick Answer
What Is Mechanical Estimating?
Mechanical estimating covers the piping and equipment systems that heat, cool and serve a building or plant beyond basic HVAC ductwork. That includes chilled and heating water, condenser water, steam, compressed air, process piping, pumps, chillers, boilers and cooling towers. The estimator measures piping by system, size and material, counts fittings and valves, prices equipment, and applies installation labor.
Mechanical estimates are common on central plants, hospitals, schools, hotels and industrial facilities.

Mechanical Piping and Equipment, Priced by System
Mechanical piping labor depends heavily on pipe size, material, joining method (welded, grooved, threaded, soldered) and installation height. Our mechanical estimators measure each system from plans, isometrics and riser diagrams. They count fittings, valves and specialties and apply labor units by size and joining method.
Major equipment, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps and heat exchangers, is priced from the schedules with rigging, setting, connections and startup.
We include insulation and jacketing, hangers and supports, seismic and wind bracing where required, water treatment, flushing and testing. For industrial clients, we price process piping, compressed air and plant utilities from P&IDs and equipment layouts.
Mechanical estimates can be combined with HVAC Estimating Services and Plumbing Estimating Services into a complete MEP package.

Florida Expertise
Florida Factors That Change Mechanical estimating Costs
Florida’s codes, climate and market conditions add costs that generic national estimating data routinely misses.
Cooling-Dominant Design
Florida’s climate makes chilled water and cooling towers the center of most central plants.
Water Treatment
High humidity and water quality require robust cooling tower treatment and corrosion control.
Resilient Plants
Critical facilities may need redundant equipment and flood-protected mechanical rooms.
